Celebrations with Family and Friends

December has been a busy month !The holidays afford many opportunities for our children and their families to celebrate and learn together.  We started off the month with a Saturday morning Holiday Pancake Breakfast for our families with all preparations, decorating and cooking conducted by our staff members who volunteered their time and energy.  Dressed as elves, they welcomed over 220 guests!

This month we also celebrate Hanukkah, Kwanzaa and Christmas with songs, stories, and cooking traditional foods.  The sights, smells and tastes of the holidays lead to many learning and social activities for all of our children.

Our preschool is closed December 26, 2011 through January 2, 2012.  We reopen on January 3rd.

We wish you all a happy holiday season, and best wishes for the New Year!

A HEALTHY SMILE

Many thanks to the Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine for their help in ensuring healthy smiles in our students.  Their staff spent two days at NIS, setting up a dental office in our Open Space and examining many of our four year old students.  They also conducted workshops for our students, teaching about the  habits needed to promote healthy teeth and gums. The children all loved the giant toothbrush that was used in the demonstration, as well as the individual toothbrush they each received as a special gift.
